Plum, Persimmon and Peridot

Does this persimmon appear to levitate?  I noticed that in my other persimmon painting, too. What am I doing wrong?

On a side note, I found the little amethyst bottle (from above) on our recent trip to Colorado. We enjoyed the cool mountain air and the beautiful fall color.  I'm attaching a few photos for you from our daily walks.

I wasn't the first Darla to venture along this trail, but fortunately, it saved me a lot of time carving my name into a rock.  Ha!

And what would vacation pics be without one of Mark and Rodeo relaxing and enjoying the view?

Good times!  Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Thank you, Azra. Perhaps I've been staring at the persimmon for too long then? I will trying painting it again and lighten the shadow. I appreciate your creative input! Thanks again!

Hi Darla, I love the soft finishing you give to your subjects and the play of light in your paintings, they are sort of dreamy and beautiful! The figs down below this post and the painting on the blog header is mind blowing..

lighten shadow and darken the persimmon on the shadow side....it's all one value right now. Karen

Karen, you have no idea how much I appreciate your help! That has been bugging me to no end, lol. I actually darkened the shadow trying to make it better. I will try painting the persimmon again. Thank you!

I'm not sure about all the technical stuff, what I do know is I love the colour, and think it is a sweet little painting.
