Day Three

This is my entry for day three of the 30-in-30 challenge. Leslie suggested we pick a theme for our 30 paintings. When I sit down to paint, my main focus is always portraying the play of light. The objects and composition never matter much to me. The light is my inspiration. In the past year or so, I've been drawn to the quietness of it. This little pear has that twilight feel for me.

Since taking private painting mentoring classes with Abbey Ryan, I've grown to love painting handmade pottery. It is so inspiring for me to see our landscape appear in the highlight, and it is always a challenge for me to paint.

Separation Anxiety

Recently, Mark picked these pears for me, and I've been having so much fun painting them.  Despite our often dry weather, the century-old trees continue to thrive.  Their fruit isn't as pretty as grocery store produce, but I'm enjoying their organic shapes, blemishes, etc.  Each one is so different and unique.  And oh, so tasty.  ;)

We are having thunderstorms today.  And although I love the rumble of thunder, Rodeo is not a happy camper.  He is so afraid of this kind of weather.  So, I'm off to just sit, relax and snuggle with him.  I hope you all have a great evening!  :)   

Plate & Pear

I cannot even begin tell you how I have struggled with this little painting.  Some days are just that way for me.  I hate to even post it; it annoys me so.  But in the spirit of honesty, I feel that I should.  If you don't try, you can't succeed, right?  So, I'll just keep trying.  Or at least, that's what I'm telling myself this afternoon.  ;)
