Simplicity

I was inspired by the way the dappled sunlight fell across this single pomegranate. I painted this piece in December, but I wasn't sure about posting it. Sometimes, I have to look at things for a while to decide if they are finished. In the end (at least for today), I like the simplicity and quietness of the moment.

It has been a chilly day here, but winter sunsets make up for the cold. Ours was so pretty this evening. I hope your week is off to a great beginning!

Seeing one year draw to a close and a new one begin always leaves me feeling introspective. 2013 was a bittersweet year for our family, but our blessings were abundant. When my sweet niece, Hailey, was born, her parents gave everyone a box of chocolates. The pink ribbon and the tiny gold, baby carriage announced the arrival of their new little girl. Now, I am not terribly sentimental about material things, but when it comes to my nieces and nephews, I totally am.  I love to save all of their little trinkets, but it is my auntly duty, right? I think so!

Well, the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone, life is getting back to normal and it is time to get back to work, right?

I've been practicing painting garlic again. And I reworked my previous garlic painting. I almost never work on a painting after the initial session, but for some reason, I couldn't stop myself with this one. I think that I like it better now, and I hope you do, too.

Happy Thanksgiving from Texas!

We've enjoyed a snowy pre-Thanksgiving week. I couldn't resist riding along with my sweet husband to feed the calves and, well, to play in the snow!

The snow has almost all melted now, and it is beautiful out.  And I am feeling very thankful for my family and my friends. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
